Condensation Control Module (CCM)
Essentially a ventilation feature, the CCM is a bolt-on feature to the Ducted Air Circulation System. The module introduces a small percentage of dry, filtered air from your roof cavity into your house, which forces moisture-laden air out of the house via cracks around doors and windows. Less moisture in the house means less water on windows! The system also reduces air temperature fluctuations within the house, which essentially removes the trigger for condensation to form.

SUMMER DEAL #2
$12 per square metre (SQM) for R3.5 glasswool ceiling insulation fully installed

Many homeowners in Tasmania may only have 1/4 to 1/2 of the recommended rating of insulation in their ceiling, meaning that heat is escaping at an unacceptable rate and heaters need to generate a lot more heat to keep you warm. As 35% of heat is lost via the ceiling in a typical home, ceiling insulation is usually the No.1 "home efficiency" priority. Read More...

The question is NOT "Is my ceiling insulated?", but rather "What is the quality of my ceiling insulation?". Self-assess your own insulation with these questions:
  • How thick is your ceiling insulation? (every 10cm adds approx 5 degrees, and you should have approximately 10-15cm of insulation as a minimum)
  • How many gaps are in the insulation? (5% gaps equates to a 40% reduction in effectiveness, so it is important to have the batts installed properly)
  • Does your insulation have a lot of peaks and valleys in it? (This is relevant to "blow-in" insulation, which is subject to breeze movement over time, and is only as effective as the thinnest section).
For comparison purposes, newly-built houses over the last decade have had to use a glasswool ceiling insulation batt that is 20cm thick (R4 rating, Building Code of Australia for our climate zone). A decent layer of insulation will usually warm up the house by 6 or 7 degrees in winter and will act like a heat shield in summer.

Call 1300 96 80 60 and within 5 minutes we will give you an indicative total cost based on Google Earth satellite images of your roof (usually correct to within a few percent). We will accurately refine the area measurements of your roof once our installers are onsite with measuring tapes. If you know your area in SQM (square metres), then simply multiple the SQM by $12 e.g. A house that is 10m x 9.5m in size has an area of 95 SQM, which equates to 95 SQM x $12 = $1140 fully installed.

SUMMER DEAL #3
$14.90 per square metre (SQM) for R2.0 underfloor insulation fully installed
If you have exposed floorboards or other hard floor coverings, such as tiles, on a raised floor (i.e. there is crawl space underneath) then you should ensure that you have underfloor insulation. Why? Because the cold, outside elements are being transferred into your house via the floor during winter. When the floor gets cold, it cools the air above it, meaning that your heaters need to work harder. Some floors and skirting boards create draughts in the house, which can be plugged with underfloor insulation. So, if you don't dare have bare feet on your floors in winter, give us a call.

How to proceed
What's the next step?

Call us on 1300 96 80 60, or email info@homeefficiencygroup.com.au. We do free onsite quotations statewide, but due to anticipated demand during this promotion we cannot guarantee that our sales team will be available to visit all houses during the promotional period, which may result in you missing out on the deal(s) if you needed to wait for the onsite visit. Remember - the promotion applies to the first 100 households only when approving during Jan/Feb and where installs are before 14th March 2012.
Pricing Notes
Depending on where you live, what your ceiling is constructed from and the pitch of your roof, some additional fees may apply. These are outlined below.

Travel
The Greater Launceston and Greater Hobart areas are exempt from travel fees. Areas outside of these zones attact a travel fee, which is based on a rate of $0.50 per km return from Launceston or Hobart, whichever is nearer.

Very low pitched or skillion roofs
Where roof spaces do not allow adequate "crawl space" access to substantial sections of the ceiling area due to low pitch of roof and/or large header boards (tall ceiling joists or bearers that prevent access to side parts of the roof in some instances), additional fees may apply. Usually these additional fees are approx $1 to $2 per SQM extra, unless the roof is entirely skillion, in which we reserve the right to do an onsite inspection and quote prior to install.

Difficult Ceiling Fee
For houses with the following ceiling constructions, an additional fee of $40 per ceiling protrusion apply due to the extra effort, tooling, care and clean-up that is required to put in inlets or outlets: lath and plaster ceilings, double ceilings (where a lower ceiling has been added below an original ceiling), timber ceilings or a combination of the above.

Difficult or impossible underfloor access
Sometimes it is not possible to access all of the underfloor area due to minimal crawl space and obstructions (pipes, etc...). You will only be charged for the amount that is installed.

Underfloor insulation
Price includes securing underfloor insulation to sub-floor area via very secure insulation staples, but does not include coverings, chicken wire etc... as they are not required to secure our insulation.
