Adam Hirst is Managing Director of Home Efficiency Group, an organisation dedicated to simultaneously improving comfort levels within homes and providing energy savings. The company was started when Adam became frustrated with inefficiencies in his own house. It was hard to keep warm, had an undersized heater and generated huge electricity bills to ensure that his children's bedrooms were kept warm. What started with simple draft-proofing and insulation in his own home has grown into passion, qualifications and plenty of experience managing teams to professionally install ducted air transfer systems, solar air heating systems, insulation and condensation control systems.
Adam's background is varied, revolving around IT project management, software training, services marketing and software architecture. With a Bachelor of Commerce degree from UTas and computing courses through Monash University, the switch to a bricks and mortar industry was a real sea change, and a real challenge. Adam sees his non-trade background as a distinct benefit as he feels he can look at non-traditional solutions to common issues, and isn't afraid to work with local and international suppliers to achieve the required end-products.
Adam's business installed over 800 solutions in houses in its first year of operation, and considers himself knowledgeable and experienced in the areas of air transfer, ventilation and condensation control in cool climate regions.
